Kyrene del Norte Dual Language Academy is located in Tempe, and serves students in grades PreK-5. The innovative Dual Language program at Norte provides students with literacy and content in both English and Spanish.

Friends, families, and fellow members of the Kyrene community—we acknowledge the difficult task the Kyrene School District Board has undertaken with the Long Range Planning Committee. We appreciate the effort to address the district's declining enrollment and create a sustainable plan for the future.

However, the current proposal to close Kyrene del Norte is not the right solution. It fails to recognize our school's unique value and the critical role it plays in our community and the district's success.

Kyrene del Norte is a beacon of academic excellence and a cornerstone of our community. It is a place where students are not just learning; they are becoming bilingual, biliterate, and culturally aware global citizens.

The success of our school is undeniable, and it is a draw for families from all over. In fact, an estimated 58-60% of our students come from outside of the district, choosing Kyrene specifically for the exceptional education and community that Norte provides. This open enrollment is a vital component of the district's financial health. 

We believe the Board's current proposals must be rejected or, at the very least, modified to no longer include the closure of Kyrene del Norte. The decision to close our school is a miscalculation, one that overlooks the very values and critical components that make our district strong.

This is our chance to speak with one voice. By signing this petition, you are directly asking the Kyrene School District Board to reconsider this proposal. You are demanding a solution that aligns with the district's stated commitment to educational excellence and community strength.
