Parents deserve clarity — not last‑minute changes!

Today should have marked a crucial milestone: the publication of Falkirk Council’s papers on the Enhanced Provision proposals, ahead of the previously communicated Executive Committee meeting on 19 February.   Instead, we learned — not from the Council, but from an ad‑hoc media enquiry prompted by parents — that the Council has delayed both the publication of the report and the date of the decision itself.

📄 Papers will not be issued this week as expected, but instead the week commencing 9 February.
🗓️ The Executive will not consider or vote on the proposals until 23 April, more than two months later than the timeline that has been presented to families for months.

What this means for families
This eleventh‑hour delay — communicated only because parents were proactive enough to ask questions — prolongs uncertainty for families already under immense pressure. For parents whose children are currently in Enhanced Provision units, this pushes their anxiety further into the school term.

For families of children approaching P1 transitions, the impact is even more serious. Decisions about Enhanced Provision places typically shape almost every aspect of transition planning. With no clarity on the model the Council intends to operate, families are left in limbo — unsure whether specialist support will exist, whether their child will be placed in the right environment, or whether the service will be dismantled before their child even begins school.

❗ Why this matters
Parents have campaigned tirelessly because these proposals affect safety, wellbeing, inclusion and educational access for some of the area’s most vulnerable children. Last‑minute shifts in timelines — and the lack of proactive communication — undermine trust and transparency at a time when families need stability and honesty from their Council.

📢 Keep Sharing. Keep Speaking Up.
Your support has been extraordinary — and it continues to matter. Delays like this show why our collective voice is essential. Please continue sharing the petition and speaking to councillors, MSPs and media. Families deserve answers, and our children deserve stability.
