Claremont House is a council run, dementia specific home. Kirklees Council has announced a review of dementia residential services with one potential proposal being to close all four of its remaining care homes including Claremont House and move the residents to alternative care.

This would be hugely detrimental to the residents who need routine and familiarity in order to have the best quality of life. A move is likely to result in dramatic deterioration for those affected by dementia.

The decision to close Claremont House or not will be made by the end of September 2023 so we need to act NOW!!

The staff at Claremont House are dedicated to providing high quality care and getting to know each individual. They are welcoming to family and friends.

On a personal level, our Mother is suffering from advanced dementia & has many health issues. She is completely immobile & needs to be hoisted & repositioned every few hours. She cannot speak & is spoon fed pureed food. If she has to move to another care home, this will undoubtedly be detrimental to her health & is therefore causing us as a family a lot of worry. This is our Mum's 3rd care home. The 2 previous homes were privately owned & inadequate on many levels. We cannot speak highly enough of Claremont House. Mum has been cared for as she should be & as a family we know without doubt we have nothing to worry about. If Claremont House closes none of this will be the case.
