Dear unincorporated communities surrounding the park. We would like to offer you something to chew on. Consider it a free picnic of food for thought…
What if the City of Sacramento won’t play nice? Will the County Board of Supervisors be able to help us with this situation?
Maybe we wouldn’t even have to be asking such questions IF we were in an entirely different situation.
Meaning- what if we were in a city?
No, not THE city. And we know where some people might try to go with this (yes we’ve seen you on Reddit) We don’t appreciate the arrogance of those who don’t live here- acting like they know what’s best for us.
Annexation by the city of Sacramento is NOT the answer. Just ask old North Sacramento about what happened to them.
But, perhaps incorporation of our area (like Roseville, Citrus Heights, Rancho Cordova have successfully done) is something to consider.
A CITY of our own. With REAL voting power- granting us the ability to have more of a say in local government decisions that directly affect us. Isn’t that what everyone deserves?
Case in point: this City of Sacramento park in our unincorporated County neighborhood! Can our Supervisors do anything about this matter if the City of Sacramento doesn’t want to? Let’s hope so. And yes, time will tell…
But maybe we ought to consider how things might be different if we had our own city?
