See attached news from CBS regarding fire yesterday in Del Paso Park. The incident was posted on Twitter.
When we asked about the cause of the fire Sac FD responded:
“The cause was undetermined because of no eyewitness information and no obvious indication of how it began. There were numerous indications of humans living in the park and several homeless campsites near where the fire seemed to originate.”
We know that a smoldering log was found in an abandoned encampment in the Arcade creek bed in the park recently by Sacramento Picks It Up! (See video of most recent cleanup)

One nearby resident upon hearing this news of the Sac FD findings after yesterday’s fire responded,
“Hmmm.....It will be helpful to have that in writing in their report. Amazing what one can see when one looks for it. Perhaps Judge Nunley needs to see the report.”
What will we do about these urban fires caused by illegal encampments in our parks and near infrastructure as well as residential areas- that continue to plague Sacramento? Inside Sacramento recently did an article about the issue:

Lets look back at this issue when KCRA covered it in 2019:
The Mayor’s words in above article ring hollow.
It feels like nothing ever happens to make any REAL difference or improvement- as long as we have our current leadership in the Mayor’s seat and the seats of Sacramento city council.
Let’s hope we can get some better leadership for Sacramento- before it’s too late.
