Good morning supporters. Please see news article and video from 8/20/22. East Sac residents are fed up!

When it was suggested that homeless could camp on the 102 acres in South Sac, "Steinberg replied to that suggestion by saying "that’s not fair to that neighborhood."”

Mayor is contradicting himself.

Remember his comments in late June?

“I’m not going to allow a vacant city asset that is large and that is perfect for city (homeless services) to just lay fallow,” Steinberg said.

https://amp.sacbee.com/news/local/article262929053.html

“We cannot allow a city asset to lay fallow when we have thousands of unsheltered people on our streets and our business communities and our neighborhoods are rightfully pleading with us to get more people out of those encampments,” Steinberg said.”

But NOT on 102 acres near the Mayor’s home address. How close to his home is the Meadowview property? (This is publicly available information…that can easily be obtained by a search of SacBee)

Guess what else? The land in Meadowview was purchased with funds that were supposed to be used for solutions to the city’s homelessness crisis- money from the city’s “Comprehensive Siting Plan”. See article below:

“Sacramento Mayor Darrell Steinberg said the goal is to have a cleaner and safer city while also helping people navigate their way out of homelessness.”

So we have a question for YOU Mayor Steinberg:

Are you going to make good on your claim that you “won’t allow a city owned asset”…one that you’ve put 12.3 million of homeless funds into, “by the way”, to “just lay fallow” while so many people are on the city’s streets and are needing a place to go?

Homeless advocates say people are on the American River Parkway because they “have no where else to go”…

From 2018:

https://www.kcra.com/article/how-should-sacramento-county-handle-homeless-along-american-river-solutions-divided/23852666

Bob Erlenbusch, Sacramento Regional Coalition to End Homelessness:
"It never ceases to amaze me how you talk about an incredible amount of trash and human feces and all the rest of it -- but don't talk about providing bathrooms. It's really tragic that we have to pit such a beautiful resource -- the American River Parkway -- against homeless people who have nowhere else to go."

"Nowhere else to go"?

Camping on 102 acres of city owned  “fallow land”—literally, makes much more sense than forcing them to camp in congested city streets and sidewalks. Or allowing camping to continue illegally in the parkway. Aren’t you looking to start providing relief- for those who have no where else to go but blazing hot city streets and sidewalks- and for those pedestrians who are trying to navigate and patronize the businesses downtown…?

Sacramento is DYING but Mayor Steinberg won’t do the obvious common sense moves to fix this problem. Why???

Because HE is behaving like what some people might label as NIMBY. And now the truth about him has been exposed.

Thoughts?

The advocates are fed up. Lawsuits left and right. The Unincorporated Community is fed up. The Business community is fed up. City residents are fed up.

Stop breaking the promises you make to solve the homeless crisis. Make good on the money you spend saying it is going to help the homeless and the rest of us. You must be held accountable, Mayor Steinberg. We want leaders that will help and actually make a difference, not just give us lip service.

You say, “I hear you” but, oh no… you don’t.

City Residents say: Save Our City!!!

County Residents say: Save Our Suburb!!

Everyone says: Save Sacramento! Enough!!
