We concerned citizens who love Chazy Lake submit this petition to urge the NYS Adirondack Park Agency (APA) to REJECT the pending application to allow a massive RV Park to be built on the shore of our beautiful, pristine and peaceful lake (APA Project No. 2024-0203).    

The proposed project fundamentally conflicts with the mission of the APA to protect and preserve the unique scenic, wildlife, historic, ecological and natural resources of the Adirondack Park.  

Simply put, this development will fundamentally alter Chazy Lake and the surrounding community.  Among other things, the project will:

• Destroy Chazy Lake’s natural habitat and ecosystems
• Endanger wildlife, particularly loons, eagles and great blue herons
• Threaten protected wetlands
• Spread new and existing aquatic invasive species
• Degrade the water quality of the lake through soil erosion and oil/gas runoff 
• Result in an insurmountable sewage and wastewater problem
• Increase water, air, sound and light pollution
• Substantially impair the Chazy Lake viewshed
• Add nearly 36,000 visitors per season to our small community
• Create an unmanageable strain on the Town’s water, electrical and road infrastructure
• Exceed the boating capacity of the lake
• Overwhelm the State boat launch and Town beach

We demand that the APA hold a public hearing to allow us to voice our concerns.  

We further implore the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation to oppose this development and protect Chazy Lake from being forever destroyed.
