Stop the Change to a 4x4 CHCCS schedule

Stop the Change to a 4x4 CHCCS schedule
The Issue
CHCCS recently held a board meeting where they proposed all schools within the district moving to a 4x4 schedule for the 2025-26 school year and onwards. Of all guest speakers present, none advocated, with most against. If the vote happening two weeks from the original meeting passes, all students will be significantly damaged in every school in the district.
Perhaps the most destroyed would be the music and language programs, which each require consistent practice throughout the school year. On average, about a quarter of students will have over a calendar year apart between these classes, and not many would practice, instead losing those cumulative skills. Not just this, with 2 sessions of finals and an additional class period, about a quarter of the school year would be lost. Teachers would manage multiple classes at once for longer times, but still have the same low pay. The modification propsed, an AB block, does not deal with many of these problems. This is without mentioning the grueling periods of about 75 minutes. Possibly the only benefit is the addition of a flex period, which if implemented would still detract from class time. Schools' honor would be damaged, as sporting students would have to spend more time doing makeup work on later classes due to missing more content in one day, and less students would be amitted to regional bands and orchestras.
If action is not taken, this objectively worse schedule will be put into place. It will not benefit student health or class time, and at the time of this petition's creation (one day after the meeting) there are twoo weeks left. Action must be taken now to guarantee that this injustice is not wrought upon the student body. We urge fellow students to vote for keeping the standard 7-8 period system in place in schools where it currently is.
Please note that you cannot use your school google account for this. You will need to sign up using a personal one. Do not sign this petition if you are not connected to the CHCCS district in some way (Not a student, guardian, or teacher).
