Stop the Censorship of Pakistani Journalists on YouTube
The Issue
We, the undersigned, urgently call on YouTube, Google, and the international community to take immediate action to stop the unjust banning of YouTube channels belonging to Pakistani journalists who are courageously raising their voices against authoritarianism in Pakistan. These journalists are advocating for democracy, the rule of law, and an end to enforced disappearances perpetrated by law enforcement agencies. Their work is critical in exposing human rights abuses and holding those in power to account.
Pakistan's journalists are on the frontline in the fight for democracy and human rights in their country. They use YouTube as a platform to broadcast truths that are otherwise suppressed by mainstream media. Despite their invaluable work, these journalists face increasing threats and restrictions, their videos banned, and channels shut down without just cause.
