The Issue
STOP THE POTENTIAL CELL PHONE TOWER ACROSS FROM THE NEW RIVERTOWN K-8 SCHOOL
We the undersigned highly oppose the possible installation of a cell phone tower across from the new RiverTown K-8 school. We further oppose the possible installation of this cell phone tower within the RiverTown Community. For the potential health risks and safety of our residents, especially our developing children, and for the protection of our property values, we are requesting that David Boess (applicant) with NexTower Development Group II, LLC find another location for the installation of his cell phone tower, away from any schools, parks, and residential neighborhoods.
The World Health Organization (WHO) classified radio frequency electromagnetic fields (from cell towers) as a 2B possible carcinogen (See attached link). These radio frequency electromagnetic fields are in the same category as insecticides (such as DDT), fungicides, chloroform, dry cleaning fluids, lead, gasoline and others.
There have been multiple studies conducted by reputable organizations such as The World Health Organization (WHO) and The American Association of Pediatrics (AAP) about the long term exposure and potential health effects to high levels of radio frequency electromagnetic fields (RF EMFs). They can potentially have adverse health effects, especially on developing children.
Concerned Parents of students at The Lower Bolles School in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida signed a petition with over 600 signatures to cease the activation of a 5G cell phone tower that was installed right next to the school. One parent, Dr. Laila Samiian, who is a surgical oncologist for Baptist Health said, “It hasn’t had a lot of research, officially, to see if it’s safe to be near humans." She further states, "We have no idea what that’s going to do to them over the next 10-20 years” and "If the tower is right next to the school or right on top of the school, the kids are getting exposed every single day." The US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) long considers cell towers as “Hazards and Nuisances.”
"Research indicates that over 90% of home buyers and renters are less interested in properties near cell towers and would pay less for a property in close vicinity to cellular antennas." Documentation of a price drop up to 20% is found in multiple surveys and published in articles within the attached link.
