Environment Agency To Be Challenged Over Flood Ruling at Wimbledon!

The scene that met racegoers on Sunday after a brief period of light rain, was sadly not an unusual one. Those arriving early would have seen the market traders selling their wares almost on islands as the water had spread across the car park several inches deep in places. Not for the first time, and certainly not for the last time, drivers, mechanics and spectators had to contend with appalling conditions in the pits. At the same time, a floodgate was seen erected in front of the main offices of GRA within the stadium. This is the same gate that has been seen in place before and after our meetings for the past 3 years now. Surely they don't need this do they? Surely this site never floods does it? For the flood category to be downgraded, just before the council decision of 10th December is dubious at best. Data and images will be gathered over the next few weeks, to compliment what we already have, and then we will present our case for a review. We will update you with news when we have it.
