Stop the Boil: End the Sale of Live Lobsters for Cooking

The Issue

Lobsters are complex, sentient creatures with advanced nervous systems, capable of feeling pain, stress, and fear. Recent studies show that lobsters exhibit behaviors suggesting they experience suffering when boiled alive. Their highly developed chemoreceptors allow them to sense even the slightest changes in their environment, making the current method of cooking them incredibly cruel. Furthermore, they can live up to 50 years in the wild, forming social bonds and navigating their environments with remarkable intelligence. By ending the commercial sale of live lobsters for cooking, we take a humane step toward respecting these sentient beings and adopting more ethical culinary practices.
