Many of you stood with us to protect McKean County from large-scale industrial wind development.
Now we are facing another major industrial energy project: RWE’s Stargazer Solar + Battery Storage project across Sergeant, Hamlin, and Norwich Townships.
This is not a small community solar array.
It is a multi-thousand-acre (8,000+) industrial project tied into the New York energy markets.

Here’s what the public deserves to understand:
- The parent company is RWE AG, headquartered in Germany.
- Major shareholders include large global institutional investors.
- Lease control involves thousands of acres tied up under long-term agreements.
- The electricity is positioned to deliver into New York’s energy market.
- Federal and New York clean energy incentives play a role in the financial structure.
Meanwhile:
- The land is here.
- The wildlife habitat is here.
- The stormwater runoff is here.
- The fire response burden is here.
- The long-term decommissioning risk is here.
Just like with Black Cherry Wind, this isn’t about being “for” or “against” energy.
It’s about scale.
It’s about transparency.
It’s about local control.
It’s about whether McKean County becomes an industrial energy zone serving out-of-state markets.

🔎 Quick Black Cherry Wind Update
For those following the Black Cherry Wind project:
Swift Current Energy has filed an appeal of the MET tower application denial on the Collins Pine property (Norwich Township).
We are currently waiting on a decision from the court.
Nothing has changed on our end. We remain engaged and monitoring the process closely.
In the meantime, we’re asking supporters to stay involved and help with the Stargazer Solar petition as well. These projects are connected in scale, precedent, and long-term impact on McKean County.
