On the night of April 27, 2023, the Bellbrook-Sugarcreek school board passed a unanimous vote to overturn the wording in Anti-harassment policy #5571 that included the parenthetical protection of "sexual orientation and gender identity." Students and community members spoke for the majority of the 5 hour long meeting. Out of the 40 speakers, only one spoke in support of the board policy changes. People from all different walks of life came to share their personal stories and opinions about how this would effect the student body, only to be ignored by the board in the end. In signing this petition, we spread the voice of heartbreak and disgust the community feels towards this board decision. Help us spread the message about the ignorance spreading through own town and schools.
