Stop the Ban on Phones at Carmichaels Schools

The Issue

Our school has a history of allowing harassment, bullying, and assault on individuals, and now, the administration wants to enforce stricter phone rules and introduce Yondr Pouches in our school district. This decision could impact the overall safety of every student and staff member. Imagine a place where harassment goes unchecked because there are no phones to capture evidence, or a student unable to call for help in a dangerous situation on the bus.

Phones on buses are not just for communication; they're a lifeline, a way to ensure that students can reach out to their families if they feel threatened or unsafe. Recent moves to remove bus cameras and enforce stricter phone usage policies threaten to move our school in the wrong direction.

Given the history of violent bullying, harassment, and previous school shooting threats right here in Carmichaels, PA, it's vital that we maintain, not restrict, our ability to document and report unsafe situations. Imagine the terror of a hijacked bus, or the horror of hearing about an incident too late to intervene or help. Families deserve to know that their loved ones are safe, and students deserve the peace of mind knowing they can always reach out if they need help.

Instead of taking phones away, let's work towards a safer positive environment that allows students to report dangerous behavior and capture incidents that need addressing. Our goal is to have the school administration reconsider this proposal and prioritize the safety and well-being of students and staff above all. We can find a way to manage phone usage responsibly without stripping away these critical lifelines.

For the safety of our school and our community, including the safety of your child, niece, nephew, or any loved one, please stand with us and oppose these new regulations. Sign the petition today to make sure our voices are heard and cherish the safety and security our phones provide.
