The Auraria Higher Education Center practices financially predatory practices towards its students that create an environment for failure. The school provides two types of parking, meter spots, and an all day garage. The school regularly shuts down entire streets closing off metered spots to host events that have nothing to do with academics. Anyone in a rush and forced to park is ticketed immediately, as the campus has ample funds to have security sit around and either wait for the second a meter expires or wait for the second someone parks in a spot on one of these closed streets. The all day garages are no better as they force students to pay just shy of $8 every single day adding up to over $600 for just one term if you attend weekdays. These garages are still filled to the brim and force students to miss exams and lectures to either drive around hoping someone leaves before they miss class, or to go home and try again next time. Students showing up for one 1 hour class are forced to pay $8 to exists at the school for one hour as the few metered spots available are completely filled long before classes begin. They sell ridiculously high priced parking passes, on tier lists, only allowing limited days, limited lots, and pressuring students to fork out even more cash for to be a “gold member”. These offer little value in savings and still offer no promise to get spots. Students are conned into buying these tier passes just to arrive at completely full lots and have 0 parking options. Auraria Higher Education Center offers no avenues to assist students in any way, instead throwing all their resources to charge students already paying thousands to attend to the school ridiculously high fees and handing out tickets like candy. Force AHEC to be held accountable for the predatory practices aimed at the student body they claim to advocate for.
