Hanover neighbors, this is it. The fight to STOP the Ashcake Road Landfill Expansion is coming down to a crucial moment.

As of today, 330+ people have signed this petition to stand up for clean water, safe communities, and a better future. And because of your support, we’ve got a major update:

📢 The landfill’s "identified violations," "reportable non-compliance," and "state issued warning letter for industrial stormwater," as documented by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)'s detailed facility report (available online here), has officially been added to Hanover County records and the planning commission’s review packet for this week's meeting.

That means county officials now have clear, documented proof of what we’ve been saying all along—this landfill has a track record of environmental failures. Water contamination levels 800% above safe limits. Repeated violations since 2021. Missing safety reports. A state warning letter issued in April 2024.

They can’t ignore these facts. But if we don’t show up Thursday, they might ignore us.

The Hanover County Planning Commission is meeting THIS THURSDAY, and it’s expected that they will vote on the land use permit for the landfill expansion at this time.
