I presented this petition to the City Council at Town Hall.

Last night I attended the Town Hall and during the public comment period I got up to speak. I let the city council know not only my own concerns but the concerns of those who I've spoken to during the process of spreading the word about the 7th Street Commons and this petition. At the time we had more than 350 signatures and they recorded all of them including people's comments to their official records! I also read each persons comments out loud to the council members and believe they were impacted by our voices. Thanks to so many of us speaking out we are finally being heard! The city council members pushed Pulte to be more transparent about the environmental cleanup and to look into 30 additional trees and incorporating affordable housing. They questioned the traffic study even though it had been approved by the city's traffic commision. All of this is thanks to us speaking out and showing our numbers through this petition. They still approved for this to continue though. It also seems unlikely that Pulte is interested in providing affordable homes. They had no answer yet again about how the community will be kept safe during remediation. Also, extra trees is not a replacement for a forest with more than 900 trees being clearcut to build to build over priced, cookie cutter homes. Please consider emailing your Alderman and the entire city council for that matter to share what you love about being a part of this community and why you are against the 7th Street Commons housing development. Ask them to oppose this development and to consider other uses for the site that will benefit the community more than high density luxury housing.
