Thanks in part to you and the 5,000 citizens that have signed this petition, the City of Puyallup has released a draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS) for the proposed 7 huge warehouses on the farmland adjacent to the Shaw Road Overpass (in addition to one big warehouse that was recently built).  The DEIS assesses the impacts of the proposal and includes a “reduced intensity alternative” (Alternative 2) to mitigate the impacts.

Alternative 2 is a good start and better than the proposed project, but more mitigation is needed in the Final EIS.  Alternative 2 reduces the warehouse square footage and traffic volume by 35%.  But 5,844 cars and trucks per day and 1.7 million square feet of warehouses is still too much. At least a 50% reduction is needed along with more farmland protection.

Please attend the Public Meeting on Wednesday, January 17, 2024, from 6-8pm at Pierce College and voice your opinion.  The public also has until March 15, 2024, to provide written comment.

Your voice has and will make a difference!
