18 Sept 2019

Thank all 3,330 of you who signed this petition to stop this huge 7 warehouse proposal in its tracks and call for a full environmental and traffic assessment.  The State Supreme Court unanimously rejected Pierce County and the developer’s attempt to overturn the City of Puyallup’s recent court victory.  The city can now require an environmental impact statement (EIS).  This is a huge victory for the community of Puyallup!

Much thanks goes to Mayor John Palmer and the rest of the Council for staying strong on demanding that the city have a say, despite city wide mailings by landowner Knutson and the developer to intimidate.

The next step is for the City to hold public meetings and develop the EIS, which must include appropriate mitigation.  The public can significantly influence this process to reduce the scale and impacts of this project.

We encourage you to continue to follow this issue closely.  The City of Puyallup occasionally provides status updates and Mayor Palmer has been providing regular posts on his FB site at palmerforpuyallup.  You can follow those information sources and we will try to keep you apprised of developments as they arise.

The legal victory is only one step.  We must stay diligent and vocal to protect Puyallup.
