Once again, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is mobilizing to weaken the voices of Lone Mountain residents. Correspondence is going out to members who live great distances away from the project to attend the meeting. We need much greater numbers than we had at the Planning Commission. Let’s show City Council how much our neighborhood and the scenic vistas of Lone Mountain mean to us!
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints has still not made any substantive concessions on their application, which is 100% NOT compatible or harmonious to our area. They refuse to decrease the height of the building, decrease any lighting, or to work at all with residents on the items that really matter to homeowners and taxpayers. Let’s show City Council that this bullying behavior from a multi-billion-dollar out-of-state corporation is not an acceptable way to treat Nevada residents!

WHEN?
July 17th at 2:00 PM
It is of utmost importance that you arrive significantly earlier than 2:00 pm to ensure a seat in City Hall Chambers. The LDS are mobilizing and will "Pack the Plaza" once again and are telling members to arrive at 1:00 pm. We must arrive earlier than that.
WHERE?
495 S Main Street, Las Vegas, NV 89101
Uber, Lyft, Carpool!
WHY?
We must ensure that the City of Las Vegas protects taxpayer's and property owner's rights. They must abide by the Interlocal Agreement, the City of Las Vegas' own Unified Development Code, and Nevada Revised Statutes. Additionally, they must follow the federal Religious Land Use and Institutionalized Persons Act, which states that governments must not "treat churches or other religious assemblies or institutions on less than equal terms with nonreligious assemblies or institutions". However, RLUIPA does NOT give religious institutions more rights than non-religious institutions or residents - they must follow the same zoning, codes, and ordinances as the rest of us do!!!
HOW?
Show up July 17th!
Publicly comment your opposition to project 24-0072-GPA1, 24-0072-ZON1, and 24-0152-SDR1. You must publicly comment your opposition separately and submit three separate opposition Formstacks to oppose each item. LDS members will submit their support in the thousands. We MUST oppose with equal numbers!
