STOP the 19-unit, 3-storey apartment building at 33 Hilda St - 88 Isla Ave Glenroy
The issue
Who agrees our neighbourhood has been a much more peaceful place to live since the knock down of social housing in August 2023 on 33 Hilda St-88 Isla Ave Glenroy, VIC?
Are you aware that there are current plans in place for the construction of the new 19-unit 3-storey apartment building at 33 Hilda St-88 Isla Ave Glenroy, VIC?
Before the knock down of the old social housing our neighbourhood had experienced fear due to:
- Children being followed home
- A child was murdered
- Doors being knocked on at all hours of the night
- Unconscious people laying on our streets drunk/drugged
- Our personal property being vandalised
- Fires being lit within homes which intern spread to damaging neighbouring houses
- Men invading our privacy by peeping into our house windows
- Prostitution happening in these homes
- Drug use and trafficking
We have the right to feel safe in our neighbourhood and live without the fear of what these homes may bring to our surrounding streets. Our surrounding parks (Justin Ave and Cardinal St) are not safe for our children to visit due to what they may find, who is sitting there and what they are capable of doing.
In the past Emergency services were called to this location numerous times during any one week taking away from those of us that really need emergency help!
The proposed building will only escalate these issues rather than improve them. If this build goes ahead our families and neighbours will once again be faced with challenges related to safety, crime, and privacy.
It is essential that we all stand together to STOP the construction of this building. The sense of security, peace, and privacy in our lives is invaluable. This is a plea to the relevant authorities to reconsider these construction plans and employ measures to ensure the safety and security of the community members first.
Please let your voice be heard and sign prior to the 18th January 2025.
