Our family-oriented residential neighborhoods are facing a critical threat— the proposed expansion of 124 Avenue into a major traffic corridor. The 124 Avenue expansion proposal stands out as particularly unreasonable and unsafe. Unlike other sections of the project route, this portion directly affects streets with homes situated dangerously close to the road. The plan includes the transformation of these residential blocks into a major arterial road, which will inevitably lead to a permanent surge in high-volume, high-speed traffic.

Such an increase in traffic would drastically undermine the safety of our neighborhood. Our streets, once peaceful and family-friendly, would become perilous for pedestrians, cyclists, and children walking to and from school. The risk of accidents would rise significantly, compromising the well-being of all residents and altering the very essence of our community.

Furthermore, the expansion threatens the livability of our homes, farmlands, and destroys local home run operations. This project would replace the charm, safety, and natural balance of the community with unnecessary and irreversible development. 

We acknowledge the need for infrastructure improvements, but we believe they should not come at the expense of resident safety, community integrity, and the potential for homes and investments to be destroyed. As stakeholders in these vibrant and close-knit neighborhoods, we urgently call on the planning authorities and local government to reconsider this aspect of the project. There must be alternative solutions that strike a balance between infrastructure development and the preservation of the residential quality of life.
