Holtec International announced in May it will dump one million gallons of radioactive wastewater into the Hudson River — months earlier than previously planned.
You understand what is at stake if Holtec is allowed to go forward with their plans. Advocates have joined you in warning how this is a significant threat to the ecology of the Hudson river. Seven communities would have their drinking water contaminated with waste containing tritium. This is a radioactive isotope that in large quantities can cause cancer if ingested, inhaled, or absorbed through the skin.
To prevent this dangerous plan, Senator Pete Harckham and Assemblymember Dana Levenberg have proposed legislation to ban the release of radioactive waste into the Hudson River. In order for this to become law, can you help build support by spreading the word to your networks?
