Persistence matters.
After months of emails, filings, and overcoming barrier after barrier — my materials are finally in front of the judge.
I was able to escalate my concerns to the Court Accessibility Supervisor, who ensured they reached the judge — even though the case was already in the final stages and the judge had gone to chambers to prepare the order.
It took countless attempts, a system that tried to block me at every turn, and challenges with health and finances that made it nearly impossible. But persistence works. Advocacy works. And today, there’s proof of that.
And I had to do it alone — without a lawyer, even though I had a Legal Aid certificate. I filed over 400 pages of affidavit and supporting documents on my own.
This isn’t the end of the journey — the judge hasn’t ruled yet. But the fact that my arguments are officially on their desk is a major breakthrough.
This is what it looks like when access to justice is fought for — when persistence breaks through systemic barriers.
