Our school has decided to put a complete ban on the usage of technology besides the 45 minutes of lunch we have. This includes the use of headphones, earbuds, smart watches, and any other electronic devices besides our school issued Chromebooks. By doing this to our students we are limiting access to text a parent, listen to any type of music, or other necessary things we need to do. They will be taking our phones and putting them in yondr bags for the entirety of the day besides lunch as I have previously stated. This also affects students who have anxiety or social anxiety. When walking down the halls AFTER CLASSES we will not be allowed to check our phones or listen to music (which music helps people with anxiety and stress when dealing with school days.) This new rule will also affect people who have disabilities and use their phone and or smartwatch to check their blood sugar levels and or heartbeat (student commented about this point). The punishments we are also going to be receiving for being caught with headphones or ANY electronic are severe and unnecessary.This is unfair and not right to students at our school. If we as students are not allowed to have any technology then shouldn’t this also be a rule for the teachers?? I ask for you to please listen and please help our petition.
