STOP TACO BELL AND OTHER CHAINS FROM TAKING OVER ANDERSONVILLE

The Issue

STOP TACO BELL AND OTHER CHAINS FROM TAKING OVER ANDERSONVILLE

Chain stores are renting and buying properties on Clark St. in Andersonville at an alarming rate. Taco Bell just purchased the property at 5245 N. Clark, following on the heels of other chains moving in. Along with putting financial strain on small businesses and creating traffic and congestion, these chain stores serve only to drain Andersonville of its prized charm.

As Chicago residents, we want to stop chains from taking over Clark St. in order to preserve and protect the economic vitality of Andersonville, its locally-owned businesses, and its unique charm.

Alderman Harry Osterman and Alderman Andre Vasquez, we ask that you use your authority to serve the voice of this collective community.

We, the undersigned, want a policy that regulates the percentage of chain (or “formula”) stores/businesses in Andersonville between Foster and Bryn Mawr on Clark street in Chicago, Illinois.

We call for the creation of a forum that will work to preserve the character of our designated National Historic Commercial District, and protect the economic vitality of small businesses in Andersonville.

We request that you suspend all licenses/permits for Taco Bell until a community-driven solution to this issue is found.
