Best Car Parks is shamefully continuing to sponsor greyhound racing despite all the recent revelations about cruelty and killing.

The company - which has a parking lot at Shelbourne Park and at locations around Dublin and Cork - has ignored appeals for it to stop supporting the cruel industry in which dogs are injured, doped, dumped and killed.

Earlier this year, the RTE Investigates documentary "Greyhounds Running For Their Lives" exposed the horrors of greyhound racing, including the killing of thousands of greyhounds every year because they are not fast enough to win races. It prompted several sponsors, including Barry’s Tea and FBD Insurance, to ditch greyhound racing.

On 13 December, the Best Car Parks A2 525 took place at Shelbourne Park, with €575 in prize money. During the race, a greyhound suffered a bad fall at the first bend https://youtu.be/XJLf3BDEdms?t=9

A few days later, Best Car Parks sponsored another race at Shelbourne Park with €480 in prizemoney.

Shelbourne Park is one of the worst tracks in Ireland for greyhound injuries and deaths. In the past five years alone, at least 167 greyhounds suffered injuries there and 39 were killed by a track vet, sickening Irish Greyhound Board statistics show. Among the victims this year were a greyhound who died after suffering a “suspected heart attack” on 17th August and another carried away bleeding with a leg bone “popped out”.
