Disappointing to see Galway Bay FM continuing to include greyhound racing in its "sports" coverage, despite recent revelations about cruelty and killing in the nasty greyhound industry (6,000 greyhounds killed every year for being too slow to win races) https://galwaybayfm.ie/sports/george-mcdonaghs-greyhound-tips-for-the-weekend-24/ ❌
The station provides tips for greyhound racing at Galway stadium - one of the worst tracks in Ireland for greyhound injuries and deaths. At least 94 greyhounds suffered injuries and 24 were destroyed by a track vet at Galway Stadium over the past four years alone, sickening Irish Greyhound Board statistics show.
Among the victims was a greyhound who could be heard crying out in agony after falling to the ground during a race at Galway stadium. 1-year-old “Ballycastle Val” collided with another greyhound and tumbled at the beginning of what was to be her first and final race.
As the 5th January 2018 race continued, Ballycastle Val’s cries rang out around the stadium and are clearly audible in the Irish Greyhound Board’s race footage – https://www.igb.ie/videos/videos/?raceid=GLY_2018_01_05_03
