BCC Meeting Tuesday, March 7th 9:00 am

If you’re unable to attend the BCC meeting Tuesday, please take the time to send an email to all the Commissioners and the Mayor letting them know your thoughts regarding the speeding on Hamlin Groves Trail and the need for traffic/pedestrian controlled intersections; at Hamlin Groves Trail and Porter, Gwinnette and the unnamed roadway between McDonalds and Urban Air.  If you think your opinion and voice doesn’t matter, you couldn’t be more wrong. As I shared with the BCC when I spoke a few weeks ago, as an avid runner and cyclist for decades, I’ve witnessed on two separate occasions both a runner and a cyclist struck and killed by a vehicle. These incidents have haunted me for decades and fuel my passion to do all I can to ensure that Orange County is pushed to do all it can to make these intersections safer for pedestrians, cyclists, drivers and LSV owners. I never want to learn that any Cove or Overlook resident or family member has been seriously injured simply attempting to pull out from one of our exits onto HGT, or has struck a cyclist or pedestrian simply attempting to cross one of the crosswalks located at each of these exits. This is about speaking up and letting the County know that you, as a Cove and Overlook resident, don’t ever want to learn that either of these events has occurred, and demand they do everything possible to ensure these intersections are made safer for vehicles, pedestrians and cyclists and that vehicles on HGT are forced to slow down to 35 mph.
