The Government, via the FCDO is having conversations with countries (mainly Caribbean ones at the moment) to pay reparations of £billions to these countries to atone for slavery committed by the top businessmen of the time.  The general man on the street had nothing to do with this and had no say.  It goes therefore that the man on the street is not guilty of any of this and their tax money should not be used for this purpose.

Remember all cultures for millennia have had slaves and it doesn't matter what the colour of your skin is or your social status is when captured. 

If this goes forward, should we charge the Barbary pirates descendants of North Africa who were raiding France, Britain and the Mediterranean for slaves.

How about giving the bill to the African Kings who sold their people to the slavers.  Or the Vikings decedents for British slaves, or the Romans, or the Arabs and many more throughout the ages.
