PETITION FOR IMMEDIATE ACTION: STOP SIGNS NEEDED BEFORE IT’S TOO LATE
Covington Boulevard and Sunset Ridge Drive in Franklin Indiana!!!
Our neighborhood is facing a emergency that can no longer be ignored. Vehicles are recklessly speeding through our streets — some exceeding 70 miles per hour in a clearly posted 25 MPH zone. This isn’t just careless; it’s life-threatening.
Even more disturbing, drivers are blatantly ignoring stopped school buses, illegally passing them while their lights are flashing and stop arms are extended — placing our children at direct risk, simply for trying to get to and from school.
The consequences of inaction are unthinkable. A person struck by a vehicle traveling at these speeds faces devastating, often fatal injuries. We’re not talking about near misses — we are talking about a tragedy waiting to happen. This is a safety emergency.
Despite repeated reports, speeding tickets, and police pulling drivers over, the problem persists. The City and the Mayor continue to turn a blind eye, refusing to implement basic safety measures like additional stop signs — even as the danger escalates and enforcement alone proves insufficient.
We, the undersigned, demand immediate action to install stop signs at critical points in our community. We will not wait until someone — a child, a neighbor, a loved one — pays the ultimate price for the city’s inaction.
Sign today. Protect our streets before it’s too late.
