STOP SEXUAL HARASSMENT IN THE WORKPLACE

STOP SEXUAL HARASSMENT IN THE WORKPLACE
The issue
As a lawyer I receive calls everyday from men and women who have been sexually harassed at work and are desperate for help.
Sexual harassment, abuse and discrimination in the workplace are serious concerns for everyone. Sexual harassment relies on the coercive power of authority which if unchecked empowers the harasser to continue without fear of consequences.
Social media discussion and government surveys and statistics inform us that sexual harassment is widespread and a continuing problem. Despite workplace safety and discrimination laws Australia is failing to deal with workplace sexual harassment.
Sexual harassment is everyone's business because it is happening to our mothers, fathers, daughters and sons.
The time has come to make those in power more accountable and make our workplaces healthier and safer.
By signing this petition you will be calling on the Government to introduce a duty on employers to prevent sexual harassment, supported by a statutory code of practice outlining the steps they must take to do this.
