Hello, my name is Chloe Wells. I am a student at Grove City Christian School, in Ohio. I have went to this school for two years now. And as of now, 2024, this will be my last year here. I am an african american female freshman in high school. This school has brought me true trauma, and damage to both my mental health and state. I was sexually harassed by a student at Grove City Christian School, and the school did nothing. They never had a meeting with the student’s parents, and took his word. They told me I was lying as well, this student even told me to kill myself, and the staff and faculty blamed me for his disturbing words. I do have depression and you can only imagine how I felt hearing this. Please keep in mind this student has said some racial slurs to me, calling me a cotton picker. And he is NOT of color. My friend at my school, who has known the student for a long time even expressed to me that he has a history of saying racial slurs to people of color. And even she unfortunately experienced racist commentary from this student as well. There was also a incident to where a girl cussed me out in a lunch room and said I deserved to get sexually harassed, she also made rumors about me saying that I “dress sexually for men” which of course is inaccurate . The staff almost forced me to apologize to the girl, even though she cussed me out and I was completely calm and collect. Let me also mention that the reason this girl cussed me out was because I did not respond to her message while I was dealing with some personal issues at home. My mom was well aware of everything, and she did everything in her power protect me, my aunt as well is looking into lawsuit. This is completely unacceptable for a school, a CHRISTIAN school at that. I come to school for a education, not to get sexually harassed, and be a subject to bullying. No student deserves this! Other kids may even be in my position but too afraid to speak out because of the lack of effort this school has. I even have a copy of what the student handbook says at my school, take some time to read over the bully and harassment if you will. The administration has also lied to me by saying that it’s illegal to disclose a student’s form of discipline. Even though there are state and federal laws regarding student confidentiality, The U.S Department of Education states that a victim of sexual assault, or harassment has a right to know the disciplinary actions that will be or done. Anything, even giving this school a bad rating would give me some closure. My goal is to have the student expelled, with the possibility of a new administration in mind. So that others don’t have to experience what I have.
