Thank you for getting us this far. A few short weeks have revealed we are in for a long journey in this fight. 

Texas is one out of seven states without comprehensive aggregation regulation. 

It did not take long for me to find stories from all over Texas concerning the devastating impacts that this has brought onto us. 

I've been unable to find a single person that would say they are happy - or even ok - with what is happening. 

That is, I haven't spoken to the only ones profiting from this endeavor - the leaders of a 2 billion dollar industry. I have, however, spoken to many residents that pay the price. 

My small unincorporated town is being exploited. As we are being robbed, overweight trucks zoom at unstoppable speeds past our halted school buses. Four in a row will come and kick rocks into our windshields, as we hold our breath and pray we pass them alive. A recent head on collision between two of these trucks claimed the two drivers lives. Multi generational residents are watching their beloved home being torn to shreds, forced to listen to every minute of it. 

How much longer can we wait for more death and destruction before our State Representatives do something? Before someone's child gets run over getting off the school bus? Before the Red River becomes contaminated, or our wells run dry? 

My community is angry. My community is scared. My community struggles to believe that we can do something - because these careless companies are large and in charge. But my community is taking steps to fight. 

This is a fight that speaks to a bigger, necessary, urgent need in all of Texas. Protection from and regulation of sand and gravel mining operations.

Please continue to share this petition, as it serves as a beacon of evidence to our collective opposition. Write or call our State Representatives demanding action. Attend Fannin County town meetings.
