GoVia are not listening to us and have now increased their toll prices!!! So far 27 575 people have signed this petition to end the tolls and they didn't even give us the respect to even meet with me to receive our petition, we all demand to be heard so with that being said this is a quick reminder to please come to our peaceful protest rally to END THE TOLLS on Friday 14th AUGUST at 1:00pm, outside Shannon Fentiman's electorate office in Waterford. Shops 13/14 Waterford Shopping Centre 22 Loganlea Road Waterford West QLD 4133 Shannon Fentiman is the sitting ALP member and I have sent her a copy of our demands and have asked her for a written response prior to the rally : We call for non-payment of tolls to be unlisted as a traffic offence, and not pursued by SPER. A private company has numerous legal means for recovery of monies owed to it, and there is no need for the Qld Government to threaten Queenslanders with exorbitant fines or loss of licence simply for an unpaid toll charge. We call for the tolling company (Govia / Transurban) to be required to provide a monthly or 3 monthly statement of account (as do most other legitimate businesses such as Telstra, Optus, etc) which shows the date of travel and the toll charged – and citizens allowed 14 days for payment of the account. We call for a GENUINELY INDEPENDENT toll ombudsman to oversee complaints or disagreements arising from the tolling system, with the power to enforce changes to tolling operations. We call for the removal of the tolls on the Logan Motorway, given that a promise made by the then Premier Bjelke-Petersen that when the motorway’s cost was paid off, the tolls would be removed. The Logan Motorway’s original building cost was $140 Million – it now earns over $400 Million per year and the cost of the motorway was recovered many years ago. The residents of Logan and surrounding areas have subsidised road funding elsewhere for long enough! I'm calling on everyone to please be there to show your support to END THE TOLLS.
