The RideLONDON event will take place over the next  5 years due to an agreement with Essex County Council & Essex Highways which is resulting in closing major routes in Dunmow and the surrounding villages during the bank holiday weekend in May of each year.

The road closures for the mass cycling event held on the Sunday stops many people being able to leave their houses & housing estates for an extended duration of up to 8-9 hrs for any reason including work. There is also a possibility of delays to all emergency service vehicles being able to attend houses/businesses on the route due to the cycling event and carers are also restricted access to people that need to be visited on a daily basis.

The event should not be closing major roads in small villages for such an extended period of time and brings little to the area for residents and local businesses.
