Stop Rezoning on Bailey Road - Commercial Development Does Not FIT

The Issue

We petition the Town of Cornelius Town Board to stop the proposed rezoning (REZ 01-23) of 36 acres across from Bailey Road Park on Bailey Road called the Cornelius Business Park. It adds large commercial buildings, 960 automobile trips and 88 truck trips daily!

  • We believe that the rezoning for this project does not fit the rural and peaceful character of our area.
  • Placing such a large facility like this one will add noise, air and light pollution that does not fit our health and recreational values.
  • Trying to add over 1,000 vehicle and truck trips per day down a busy two lane road is not a good fit.
  • We should value safety over commercial development next to a valued park, schools and our neighborhood.
  • If this rezoning is approved on July 17 by our Town Elected Officials it will open the door to vast commercial development extending in all directions along Bailey Road.
  • Fitting this type of development has the potential to harm the safety of our children, impact our property values, and affect our well-being and quality of life.

Now is the time to lend your voice to say NO to fitting this commercial expansion on Bailey Road. Feel free to post comments!
