So proud of our community! We showed up! We filled the courthouse AND the hallways on a rainy Thursday night.
However, at the start of the meeting, Mayor Jim Coleman announced they had received short notice from Mr. Thomas that he would not be showing up that evening. The city manager Burt Johnson and one of the commissioners Steve Everette were also not in attendance. Remaining commissioners voted to reschedule the meeting to Thursday, January 15, 2026, at 6pm.
PLEASE MARK YOUR CALENDARS FOR JANUARY 15TH AT 6PM AND WE'LL BE THERE TO BE HEARD AGAIN!
Someone from the community asked when the city had found out Mr. Thomas would not be there - it seems they got notification same day and some of them found out just as they arrived.
Someone else from the community asked that this meeting be moved to a larger venue so that everyone present could be in the same room, participate and hear what would be going on. A motion was made and they voted in favor of a new venue for this meeting.
PLEASE STAY TUNED FOR AN ANNOUNCEMENT ON THE NEW LARGER VENUE.
Thankful for the continued news coverage from News Channel 9 and Channel 3 who were there that night.

With more time we hope to get even more petition signatures (can we get 2000? 3000?) and more voices to show up in person (can 500 be there? 600?) on Thursday, January 15th! Folks who want to speak will have 3 minutes to address the city.
