The Issue
We, the undersigned homeowners, residents, visitors and concerned citizens of Sarasota County, FL, hereby petition the Sarasota County Board of County Commissioners to DENY Rezoning Petition No. 25-01 at the southeast corner of Manasota Beach Rd. and Rt. 776 for the following reasons to preserve the integrity of our residential neighborhood:
This proposed rezoning will mean an increase in traffic around an already hazardous intersection. We are all too familiar with the current traffic issues that plague our roads during peak hours and introducing more commercial activity will only exacerbate the problem, heightening safety concerns for all road users, including our children.
Moreover, the proposed development risks increasing noise, light, and environmental pollution. The serenity of our neighborhood is under threat, as is the natural habitat of the nearby Manasota Scrub Preserve. This precious land is home to various species of wildlife, and increased pollution could irreparably harm these natural environments.
In addition to environmental concerns, approving this rezoning sets a dangerous precedent for further commercial encroachment into our community. This could lead to an irreversible transformation, affecting property values and the overall well-being of residents and visitors alike.
We must act to preserve the quality of our neighborhood and safeguard our community from these potential threats. I urge you to oppose Rezoning Petition No. 25-01 and protect the future of our neighborhood and surrounding community. Sign this petition and make your voice heard to prevent this proposal from altering our lives and environment.
