Stop restricting copyrighted material on AI image and video generators

Stop restricting copyrighted material on AI image and video generators
The Issue
As someone passionate about creativity , The rise of AI video and image generators promised tools that could help me transform ideas into reality. However, I was met with an unforeseen problem when I realized how corporations are make these tools so restrictive on copyright now.
Every attempt to generate an image or video containing intellectual property (IP) was met with frustrating denials. No matter the context or intent behind using copyrighted material, OpenAi has started blocking any content they deemed to infringe on IP rights. This restriction has halted creativity and prevented countless others and myself from expressing creative visions.
AI generated art is transformative and can offer fresh perspectives and new meanings. Moreover, the current system of restrictions disregards the nature of fair use principles, particularly when it comes to parody, education, and the transformative nature of AI art.
To foster an environment where AI can truly enhance human creativity, it's crucial to re-evaluate the current copyright guardrails placed on Sora 2 and Other AI Models. I propose that developers of Sora 2 and other tools collaborate with experts and artists to establish a more balanced framework—one that allows for artistic freedom while still reasonably respecting IP laws. Such an approach should consider a more case-by-case basis for flagged content, drawing clear lines on what is a blatant breach of copyright and what qualifies as fair use or transformative work.
The technology that was meant to expand creativity is, unfortunately, doing the opposite. By loosening these IP restrictions, we can allow these AI services to become what they were intended to be: a limitless canvas for imagination and innovation.
Your support can make a difference. Let’s push for AI companies to revise these restrictive policies. Sign this petition.
