Hi!! I’m Nat, and I’m a mental health advocate living in the UK. I have been sharing my journey coping with Borderline personality disorder on Tiktok for over a year now, i make content about self harm and suicide prevention as well as videos about self acceptance and body positivity. As a young person who has struggled with self harm for over 5 years, I have scars. It has taken myself and so many others years to accept our scars and feel comfortable wearing short sleeves and showing our scars in public. TikTok’s algorithm has removed all my videos in which you can see my healed scars, this is something that needs to change. Healed scars are a part of someone’s body, they are not something that can be changed or removed and they absolutely should not be considered something that people should be ashamed of or insecure about. Tiktok removing  videos where healed self harm scars are visible is blatant discrimination and adds to the already overwhelming stigma surrounding self harm scars. We need change, self harm scars are NOT disturbing and NOT something that need to be kept hidden for others.
