Stop Releasing Men Accused of Child Sex Crimes in Utah

The Issue

Protect our children—don’t release repeat offenders.

For over a decade, Jonathan Soberanis has been arrested multiple times for crimes involving children. Each time, the courts rule him "incompetent to stand trial." And each time, he’s released—only to be accused again. He’s been linked to child sexual abuse material, public indecency, and disturbing patterns of hiding his identity to avoid getting caught.

Now a federal judge has again ruled him incompetent. That means instead of facing justice, he could be out again in just a few months.

This isn't about one man. It’s about a broken system that prioritizes technicalities over child safety. If someone can operate encrypted apps, use fake accounts, and conceal their identity—he’s competent enough to be a danger. Utah’s laws must change.

We demand urgent reforms to stop the cycle of release and reoffense. The safety of our children must come first.

Sign to say: no more releases. No more excuses. Fix the system now.
