Stop Property Taxes on Fully Owned Homes — If You Paid for It, You Should Own It

Stop Property Taxes on Fully Owned Homes — If You Paid for It, You Should Own It
The Issue
Property taxes were never meant to be a lifelong financial burden. Yet millions of Americans who have fully paid off their homes or land are still charged yearly property taxes — meaning they never truly “own” what they worked for.
A homeowner should not be forced to pay the government, year after year, just to keep living on property they already bought and paid for. This is especially harmful to seniors, veterans, disabled individuals, and working families living on fixed incomes. Some people even lose their homes because they can’t afford rising taxes. That is not freedom — that’s financial punishment.
We believe that once a person has fully paid for their home or land, property and housing taxes on that primary residence should end permanently. Ownership should actually mean ownership.
We are calling on state and local lawmakers to pass legislation that:
Eliminates property taxes for homeowners who own their home outright
Protects families from losing their homes due to unpaid property taxes
Finds alternative revenue sources that do NOT threaten basic home ownership
This change would protect millions of Americans, reduce housing insecurity, and restore the fundamental principle that if you paid for something, you truly own it — without lifelong fees.
Please sign and share to help push lawmakers to finally fix this unfair system. No American should lose their home because of taxes on something they already bought.
