The Issue

Why This Petition Matters
Every day in India, families lose loved ones not because of fate, but because of negligence. Badly designed highways, dangerously narrow village roads, missing lane markings, and ignored safety standards have turned our roads into silent killing zones.

In 2022 alone, more than 1.68 lakh people lost their lives in road accidents. Behind each number is a human story — a child who never came home, a parent lost forever, a family shattered. These deaths were preventable.

India already has strong road safety standards. The tragedy is that authorities are simply not implementing them.

Today, if you return home with your body and mind intact after travelling on Indian roads, you are not safe — you are simply lucky.

What Is Going Wrong
- National and State Highways routinely ignore mandatory safety provisions under IRC guidelines.
- Municipal and Panchayat roads are built far below the legally required minimum width.
- Emergency vehicles struggle to reach accident sites because roads are too narrow.
- Citizens are forced to risk their lives daily on unsafe infrastructure.

This is not a lack of law. This is a lack of accountability.

Our Legal Fight
After repeated appeals to authorities failed, our citizens’ society has been left with no choice but to approach the courts in public interest. The Hon’ble Supreme Court has already affirmed that access to a safe, motorable road is a fundamental right.

We are fighting not for compensation, not for publicity — but to force enforcement of existing laws so that lives are no longer lost due to avoidable negligence.

WHY DONATE – A SHORT APPEAL
This legal battle is expensive, but silence is deadlier.

Your contribution directly supports court filings, legal research, and sustained advocacy to hold authorities accountable. One donation today can help prevent countless deaths tomorrow.

If you have ever feared for your family on Indian roads — this fight is yours too.
