We're Still Fighting to End Easy Plea Deals for Those Who Harm Children

First, thank you.

Because of your support, our petition to end easy plea deals for those who abuse children is still growing every single day. But we're not done, not even close.

My goal is to reach 500,000 signatures by the November midterm elections.

Why then?

Because once the midterms are over, the dust settles, and the newly elected lawmakers are sworn into office, that's when we begin the next phase.

Behind the scenes, I'm already laying the groundwork. I've spoken with lawmakers and with people I've worked with who have successfully helped get legislation passed in state legislatures, Congress, and the Senate. Those conversations are happening now.

But none of that matters if we don't have the public behind us.

Lawmakers pay attention when hundreds of thousands of people stand together and demand change. Every signature makes this movement harder to ignore.

If every person reading this shared it with just one friend or family member who also believes children deserve better protection, we could dramatically grow this movement.

Far too often, people who sexually abuse children or violently harm them receive plea deals or sentences that leave families feeling justice was never served. Putting these people back into the communities where they pose a threat.

While every case is different and the legal system has to balance many factors, I believe children deserve stronger protections and that serious crimes against them should be treated with the seriousness they deserve.

Our children are our future. If we won't stand up for them, who will?
