We just passed 75,000 signatures.

Because of all of you, Jesse Mack Butler’s case, his story, and those girls’ voices have been heard around the world. It’s been covered by Good Morning America, Law & Crime, Court TV, NewsNation, ABC Nightly News, People, and even made the news in Oslo, Norway. Someone in Africa told me he was trending on their platforms.

That’s not the work of a network. That’s you.

You all made sure this man’s name, face, and crimes are known. And while Oklahoma’s judicial system may have failed to hold him accountable, he now has worldwide accountability.

I’ve spoken to the parents of the girls he victimized, girls he assaulted and strangled. They’ve told me how much your outrage and your action mean to them. Because of this movement, they feel heard. They feel seen. And while this may not be the justice he deserves, it’s something.

The image I’m posting with this update is the neck of one of his victims, before surgery, a 16-year-old girl he strangled so violently that it caused a thrombosed vessel in her neck. She needed surgery. She will carry that scar for the rest of her life.

Meanwhile, in less than 10 months, Jesse Mack Butler’s record will be expunged. No registry. No background check. Nothing. He’ll get to move on, while these girls live with permanent emotional and physical scars.

This petition, to end plea deals for child predators, started because of one case: Jesse Mack Butler. But it’s bigger than him now. Every single day, we see stories like this across the country.

We’ve reached 76,000 signatures, but I wanted to be at 100,000 by the end of October so we could bring this to lawmakers. I’m behind where I wanted to be, and I need your help to get there.

Please, share this petition with just one person today. Help push this movement forward. Every name matters and help you can provide to push this to more people is appreciated.

Now the last think I want to share is that while my platform may have been one of the first to share this story, a friend and fellow creator, who lives in Stillwater, OK is the one who brought this story to my attention. His entire platform is devoted to finding missing people, namely children.
