Stop Playing "Renegade" at Pittsburgh Steelers Games

Stop Playing "Renegade" at Pittsburgh Steelers Games
The Issue
To the Pittsburgh Steelers Organization,
As passionate fans of the Steelers, we have some thoughts about the song "Renegade" by Styx, which has become a notable part of our game-day experience.
While "Renegade" has undeniably energized our fans and has become a staple at Heinz Field/Acrisure Stadium, we would like to propose a reconsideration of its continued use. The song’s lyrics, which touch on themes of losing, cowardice, and defeat, might seem contrary to the spirit of resilience and triumph that we value so highly as a team and a fan base.
The song's recurring lines reflect a narrative of struggle and surrender, which might not fully align with the steadfast determination and courage that define the Steelers' identity. Our team embodies a spirit of unyielding perseverance and fighting spirit, and it seems fitting that our anthem should mirror these attributes.
Simply put, the song is about a cowardly loser.
We believe that exploring a different song that aligns more closely with our team's ethos could enhance the positive energy and motivation at our games. Such a change could reinvigorate our home games with a fresh sense of unity.
We appreciate the role the Steelers organization plays in creating an unforgettable experience for fans and look forward to seeing how our traditions evolve in a way that best represents our team’s values and aspirations.
