Petition updateStop Pigeon Traps at Clinton CTA Station – Commuters & Wildlife Deserve Better!SHEET METAL INSTALLED AT CLINTON STATION: CASE SOLVED

Hello everyone,

I have great news. Today I visited the Clinton green/pink line station and what a wonderful sight! The gap between the escalator and tunnel has been blocked off with sheet metal!!

I will upload a video to the google drive (linked at the bottom of the petition) if you are curious as to what that looks like. Essentially the gap is completely blocked off. After a years long battle with the station, and countless of trapped bird victims, we have finally made a positive change in this city. It is an end of a very unnecessary era.

This won't prevent the birds from entering the tunnel, but will prevent them from getting stuck in the gaps, and thus, permitting escape from the tunnel.

I would like to thank everyone who signed, shared, and donated to the petition. THANK YOU FOR HELPING ME MAKE A CHANGE! Thank you to the Chicago Sun Times for covering this story and thank you to PETA for opening up a case and backing me up! And of course, thank you to the city officials and the cta who made this change (and rather swiftly to my surprise!).

The battle may be over at Clinton station, but Chicago is an urban jungle and still a threat to many birds. If you see a bird in trouble, you too can do something!! The Chicago Bird Collision Monitors are a great resource for bird rescues, as well as the Great Lakes Pigeon Rescue.

I am officially marking this petition as closed, with a newfound appreciation for wildlife and community. THANK YOU CHICAGO!

Best regards,

Julia E.
