Dear fellow Petitioners, After the Supreme court issued a formal notice to the U. P government to examine the legal question of whether it followed due process of law before demolishing the properties in places like Kanpur and Prayagraj, the U. P government responded on June 22 that the demolitions were routine measures taken by independent local authorities against owners of illegal structures. In a 63-page affidavit, the state denied targeting persons of a particular religious community linked to the rioting. Since then, there hasn't been any news in the main media of a follow-up hearing on this case.
Javed Mohammed, who was arrested for allegedly being the “key conspirator in the June 10 protests", is still in prison in an unknown location, as per a tweet from his daughter on June 20th.
The Indian media has been busy with other hot issues last few weeks like the toppling of the Shiv Sena government in Maharashtra; the gruesome murder of Kanhaiya Lal Sahu in Udaipur by 3 Muslim men and other geopolitical news.
No one is talking about the illegal and unjust actions of the U.P government last month.
